2009 Forecast

My prediction for 2009 is it's going to be a good one. Probably rough the first couple months but I think it will turn out to be a good year. My resolution for the new year, even though I never stick with it, is to manage money better and to eat healthier.

Wish me luck, and tell me what your resolution is!

Christmas

I don't know if it was just me, but Christmas just didn't feel like Christmas this year. Maybe it's because of all the stress I've gone through in the last few months or maybe it wasn't. But in any case, Christmas just didn't feel the same this year.

Christmas Shopping

I am soo close to being done with my Christmas shopping. Just have to pick up something for my parents and I'm all done.

Also, I need to get a hold of everyone so I can give them their Holiday treats. Let me know when you are free, or I can always drop them off real quick.

Happy Holidays!

Picture of a Malti-Poo

I forgot to include a picture of what exactly a Malti-Poo looks like:

Christmas Treats

I will be making Christmas treats for everyone this year, and so I ask, who is interested in having peanut brittle or some other treat (sugar cookies or whatnot)?

And so I can keep track:

Erik- peanut brittle
Joey- peanut brittle
Sandra- a surprise!
Amy- snickerdoodles [whether she likes it or not ;-)]
Sara- a surprise!
Mark- peanut brittle
Carrie- peanut brittle
Gabby- peanut brittle
Jessica- peanut brittle

I want a Malti-Poo!

Yes, I know everyone is probably tired of hearing about me wanting a dog, but I can't help it! All I want is a little fuzzy Maltese-Poodle mix (I fell in love with them at the Pet Shoppe on Geer. I found one in the paper for $325, but I still wouldn't be able to get one since I'd have to pay a fee of around $300 to have one at the apartment.

Triple *sigh*

What would you do?

We have officially entered the holiday season. It's the time to be thankful for all the people we love. Christmas is a time of giving and receiving, and making sure that the ones we love know they are loved.

What would you do for the person you love most? How far would are you willing to go? Is it better to give then to receive?

"It is the season of the spirit. The message if we hear it is make it last all year.
"

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. I can't believe it's that time of the year already. It's pretty remarkable all that I have to be thankful for this year.

What are you thankful for this year?

Love you all!

Changing My Name

Yesterday I began looking into how to legally change my name after I get married. All I have to say is, ahhhhhhh!

  • Social Security change of name and address.
  • IRS change of name and address.
  • U.S. Passport
  • Drivers License & Vehicle Title/Registration.
  • U.S. Postal Service change of name and address.
And these are just the preliminary things I'll have to do. There is more....

Why I Miss Having a Dog

There are some days where I really miss having a dog. I miss having an animal happy to see me and having someone to keep me company when nobody else is at home.

Sure there are a number of things that makes taking care of a dog a pain. They're expensive, they have accidents, they bark...etc.

But I just really miss having a dog.

Friends are Moving On

I know that pretty much no one reads this blog but I guess I'll continue to write anyway.

During the last few months I've noticed that my friends seem to be moving on. It feels like I'm not as close to my friends or my friends don't consider me as being a close friend anymore.

I really I'm torn about what to do about this whole situation. Or even if there is anything that could or should be done.

I sometimes feel like people think I'm trying to blow them off. I know I don't hang out with people as much as I probably "should" but I'm not sure how to remedy this situation. My life consists of school and work, and during my down time I just like to be at home. I don't think I should have to feel bad every time I don't want to leave the house.

I am thoroughly exhausted and stressed out about money and making sure my grades this semester don't drop.

My little note here at the end is I know this does not apply to all of my friends- Gabby, Jessica, Mark, Erik, and  a few others.

But for the rest who always make me feel guilty for not wanting to hang out, I ask you not to. I really do the best that I can and I'm sorry if you're disappointed sometimes. I get disappointed too you know. :-)

Thanks for reading this blog those of you who do.

One Month

It's amazing that I'll be married next month on December 18th. I've always dreamed of my wedding day, and I am so excited that I feel as though I could burst. It's the supreme act of love and commitment.

Just one month to go. =)

Note To My Gabby

I really think you should start a blog, Gabby. I keep meaning to mention that to you, but I keep forgetting. Curse my memory! ;-)

I think you have a lot to say and I know I'd love to read about your thoughts on things.

Just a suggestion!

Love ya!

California Ballot Results

Gabby asked me about what the outcome was for a couple of the measures on the ballot, so I looked up that information to post here for anyone else who is interested in the results. Also, here's the breakdown for Stanislaus County.

Election Day Tomorrow

As I hope everyone is aware Election Day is tomorrow. Make sure you go to your polling place tomorrow! Voting is a civic duty and I'm tired of people not participating because they are lazy. That's right, I'm talking to you! :-P

If you got your ballot but didn't have enough time to mail it back you can find out what your polling place is and hand in your ballot at your assigned polling place. That way your vote will still be counted.

Here's where you can look up your polling place for Stanislaus county:

If you aren't sure if you are registered to vote you can find out that information and other frequently asked questions about voting here.

And there you have it. You don't have any more excuses!

Wondrous Tea and the Grinch

I came across this tea chest on amazon.com during some browsing, and I would love to have it! I absolutely love tea. I remember how one Christmas my mom got a chest full of different teas and how much fun it was to try out a new flavor. A little odd perhaps but tea always reminds me of Christmas time and those carefree days.

So if you're thinking about what to get me for Christmas.... ;-)

And I also saw "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" pajamas at Target today. Those would be good too!

Star Trek XI

Anyone who knows me, has long been aware of my love of Star Trek. I have always particularly liked the original series with Bill Shatner (Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock). The latest movie in a long series of Star Trek movies goes back to the first adventure of Captain James T. Kirk and his crew, and I must say from the pictures I've seen and the many interviews I've read it's shaping up to be a promising and exciting film.

It has several actors that people who are not Star Trek fans may be interested to see. Some of the well-known actors filling out the cast in this film include Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes), Simon Pegg (Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz), and Karl Urban (Caesar in Xena and Eomer from Lord of the rings). They will be playing the roles of Spock, Scotty, and McCoy respectively.

I encourage everyone to at least look into the movie!

Fall Is Here

It still amazes me that it's the end of October. It's only 4 days until Halloween and just 6 days until we roll those clocks back an hour. The fall is here! I'm still waiting for the leaves to change and the weather to start cooling down, though today has been a little cooler than it has been this past week.

I've always loved cloudy days, rain, and having a fire burning in the fireplace. This is my favorite time of the year!

Soon it'll be Thanksgiving, though not before I have to write my term paper for my foreign policy class....Definitely not looking to that one. In fact I'd rather write my paper for my Middle Eastern politics class on the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt on Nasser than my paper for Routh's class. Oh well at least it'll be out of the way soon. Returning from that little tangent, I'm looking forward spending time with my family and Sean's family on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It always gives me a sense of peace during the holidays and I love catching up with people.

So what are you all looking forward to this season?

Surprises

Surprises are wonderful things and come in many forms. They can come in the form of winning bingo at work (hehe), having someone do you a favor without asking, or someone going out of their way to make your day. I think everyone deserves to be surprised, and it's too bad that they are spread far apart. But then that would be the nature of a surprise to come when you least expect it. ;-)

Caramel Apples

I must say that caramel apples are the best, except for the fact that the caramel sticks to your teeth like barnacles to the hull of a ship. With each bite comes a struggle to get the sticky tasty goodness off of you teeth. And once you've fought through all this you are left with an apple, which in comparison to the sweetness of caramel, tastes a little bland.

However, all and all they are a very delicious, seasonal treat.

Foreign Policy Midterm

So this test is about to kick my ass to the curb....I need more time to study! I even got up an hour earlier to restudy but I'm still feeling like there is a dark pit in my stomach.

This test is going to suck!

Just A Thought

Lately I've been going through a nesting-type mindset. I've been thinking about what it would be like to have a baby. (This does NOT mean in any way that I want one right now- nobody panic!) I know a lot of people who are about to start, or have already started, having a family, and can't help but feel a faint pang of envy. I'm only 20 it's true, but I've always felt older than my age.

Of course when it comes to having children good is always coupled with some bad- expense, stress, and overall physical impact. But it would be worth it...someday.

I guess it might just be my maternal instincts shining through. The thought of starting a family with Sean makes me smile from ear to ear, and I absolutely cannot wait.

It'll be years before we have kids but I am looking forward to it. :-)

I really could use a nice cup of tea. Anyone willing to bring me one? lol.

I dislike being sick immensely!

Diet Time!

I know I will hear this from at least five different people that I don't need to diet. Well, I don't. But I want to simply because I'd like to eat a more balanced diet. I've been feeling sleepy and rundown the majority of the time, and that's not how I want to feel when I have free time after school and work.

I've started taking vitamins every morning and trying to get more sleep, though it is difficult to come home from work and then crash out for the night. Now I figure it's time to make sure I try to be healthier, especially with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas looming on the horizon.

I want to be able to eat turkey and cake, damn it, and not feel fat after doing so!

Expectations

Expectations are dangerous little monsters. Expectations of oneself lead to disappointment, not to mention stress. Now I'm not saying that you should not have any expectations of yourself, I'm just saying it is important to make sure they are realistic ones. But at least when you're dealing with expectations of yourself, you are the only one involved. Goals are essential, expectations will lead to grief.

Now here's the ever-disappointing and sticky problem of having expectations of others. If you have certain expectations of what a person should say or do- You will be disappointed. You cannot control the actions of another person and to believe that a person will do all that you want them to do is unrealistic and unfair. There is no way that a person can be expected to anticipate the needs and wants of every given person in that person's life, so why would you ask someone to do that?

Expectations of another person will lead to disappointment. Sorry to disappoint. :-P

More Proof

Yesterday I got more proof that I should stop worrying about whether someone gets mad at me or not. I try to be as considerate as I can be and sometimes it really does become an excruciating flaw. I get overly wound up about things that I have no control over, and I'm sure my frequent illnesses are caused by stress.

I shouldn't be stressed. School is going alright lately. Sean and I are getting married soon, which I look forward to more and more each day. My family and friends love me.

I need to stop stressing.

David's Bridal "One Love" Contest

There is only 12 days left for the contest, and as of a few minutes ago we are ranked 68 out of 1544 entries. Not too bad, but keep on voting! Not only do we win stuff for our wedding but also money toward paying our honeymoon. :-)

Why Cyane?

When picking a name for my new blog, which for me picking a name is no easy task, I decided to have the same name as my old blog from many moons ago.

Why Cyane?

Well Cyane is the traditional name of the queen of the Amazons, and the name has always meant strength to me.

Of course there is another Cyane in Greek mythology where a nymph named Cyane tried to prevent Hades from abducting Persephone. Upon failure, she dissolved away in tears and melted into her pool....but we'll just ignore that shall we?

What I Can't Stand!

I've come to this conclusion a while ago but it was reaffirmed last night. I HATE my DVR!!! It sucks! Because of it, I missed Boston Legal and Heroes! How frustrating is that?! Now instead of just sitting down and fast-forwarding through the commercials, I'll have to watch them online with the commercials you can't skip. Tre-frustrating!

Something Serene

I really like this photo by my soon-to-be father-in-law. He's quite the photographer if I do say so myself!

Why not, right?

So I have decided after a very long break to start writing again. Hopefully, I'll keep up with it but if not, then what's there to lose?

Now what to write next? ;-)
